Zimbabwe

Last week Hospitainer was part of a mission to scope out the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe for a recovery project.

The Risutu Valley was highly affected by Idai-cyclone last March; bridges, houses and farms were destroyed and washed away. In the disaster area we found huge rocks that were pushed downstream by the river. Unfortunately, the temporary bridges are not strong enough to resist the water in the current rainy season. Because of this, communities are again isolated and challenged to rebuild their lives.

Together with a team of Dutch/Zimbabwe experts, RVO and local communities, we are intending to build an integrated planningsmodel for sustainable area development. The team discussed this matter with the local government officials, the village chiefs, the concerned ministries and visited some of the affected families. Christina also visited the local clinics to discuss the challenges they are facingwith the health staff .
