Ready to rebuild healthcare in Gaza

Following the recent first-phase ceasefire agreement in Gaza, the situation remains fragile. But it has allowed for the delivery of relief goods being trucked into the region and opened a window for rebuilding vital infrastructure, including healthcare.

Since November 2023, Hospitainer has contributed to maternal, newborn, and surgical care in Gaza. Our deliveries include:

  • 5 Surgical units; fully equipped operating rooms in 20 ft shipping containers
  • 2 Specialised Surgical units; advanced 40 ft containers for Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (CEmONC). The medical units have a separate operating room as well as a delivery room
  • 3 Maternitainers for Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (BEmONC), housed in 20 ft containers
  • 1 primary health clinic in a 20 ft container
  • 13 Medical tents, including all equipment and inventory to create a field hospital with surgical capacity, including supporting departments such as recovery unit, laboratory and nursing wards. 

These modular units have been delivered in cooperation with partners like International Medical Corps, UNFPA, One4Humanity, and others.

Courageous medical staff of both International Medical Corps and UK-MED take care of the deployment and staffing of the clinics in the highly challenging circumstances of Gaza. 
Since November 2023 these medical teams together have treated a vast number of patients in extreme conditions:

  • Over 1,200,000 people treated
  • Over 20,000 major and moderate surgeries carried out
  • Safely delivered over 7,000 babies
    • Including some 1,500 caesarean sections
  • Screened over 35,000 pregnant and lactating women for malnutrition

As Gaza hopefully prepares for broader reconstruction of its healthcare systems, Hospitainer is ready to support with modular, scalable solutions. The design of the units supports rapid deployment, resilience in difficult environments and adaptability to evolving needs.

With shipping the above mentioned medical units to Gaza in the past, our units have gone through scrutiny by COGAT. This means Hospitainer’s medical units have been approved before, and we anticipate options for rapid shipping.
