Last week Hospitainer was part of a scoping mission in Zimbabwe for a recovery project in the Eastern Highlands.
The Risutu Valley was highly affected by Idai-cyclone last year March; bridges, houses, farms were destroyed and washed away. In the disaster area we found huge rocks that were pushed downstream by the river. Unfortunately, the temporary bridges are not strong enough to resist the water in the current rainy season. So that communities are again isolated and challenged to rebuild their lives.
Together with a team of Dutch/Zimbabwe experts, RVO and local community we are intending to build an integrated planningsmodel for sustainable area development. The team discussed with the local government officials, the village chiefs, the concerned ministries and visited some of the affected families. Christina also visited the local clinics to discuss with the health staff about the challenges that they are facing.
